 I have never eaten at The River Cafe but I have all the cookbooks and use them often for
inspiration. Years ago Erin and Victor gave me a copy of Italian Country at a point in my
life when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and I seriously entertained the idea of opening
 a small restaurant/take-out shop inspired by this style of cooking. I clearly didn't
do that, but I still entertain fantasies of C&P someday having a food component. Who knows -
stranger things have happened. And it was one of the first of many cookbooks in my
collection (more on that later).  I'm sure Rose Gray is eating well now. RIP.
